The Ultimate Hair Showdown

Ready to make your mark and shatter expectations? This is your chance to step into the spotlight at the Revolution Beauty Convention’s Hair Showdown. It’s not just a contest—it’s a battle of creativity, skill, and pure artistic vision. We’re looking for the boldest, most fearless stylists who aren’t afraid to take risks and push boundaries. Only the top talent will survive to claim the crown.

Phase 1: The Photo Submission Battle
The first round is all about your concept. Pick a theme, create your vision, and capture it in a photo that screams creativity. We’re not here for “safe” styles. We want to see raw artistry and hair designs that demand attention. Your submission will be judged strictly on how well it captures the theme and how bold and original your execution is. This phase is all about creative storytelling—so show us what you’ve got. These themes do not have definitions next to them we want this to be open to your interoperation. these themes can mean one thing to you and something completely different to another stylist.

Themes for Photo Submissions:

  • Contrast

  • Melted

  • Saturation

  • Balance

  • Depth

  • Constructed

  • Graphic

  • Unconventional

Only the top two submissions from each category will move on to the next phase. If your photo makes the cut, you’re one step closer to the live runway battle.

Phase 2: The Live Runway Showdown
This is where the competition gets real. The finalists from Phase 1 will enter the final round: the Live Runway Showdown. You’ll be given a single theme to work with, and it’s time to bring your creation to life on stage. The models will walk the runway in front of a packed audience, the judges, and every eye in the room. This is your chance to show off your skills—live and in action.

The judges will be looking for pure artistry, how well you execute the theme, the level of innovation, and the overall impact your design has when your model hits that runway. The final showdown will be your time to shine, so make sure your look turns heads and gets people talking.

The Judges:
A panel of experienced stylist, educators and industry leaders will be judging your design based on three key factors:

  • Creativity: How unique and bold is your interpretation of the theme?

  • Execution: Is the hair clean, refined, and flawless?

  • Impact: Does your design command attention and leave a lasting impression?

The Prizes:
Only three can walk away victorious. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will take home incredible prizes, bragging rights, and the kind of recognition that will elevate their career. You’ll have the chance to showcase your talent in front of the industry’s best and get noticed for your unique creativity and skill.

How to Enter:

  1. Submit a photo that represents your vision based on one of the themes.

  2. If you’re selected as a top finalist, you’ll be invited to showcase your work in the Live Runway Showdown at the Revolution Beauty Convention.

  3. Bring your A-game, because only the boldest will claim the title.

This is your moment to stand out, disrupt the status quo, and show the beauty world what you’re capable of. The Revolution Beauty Convention Hair Showdown is all about celebrating independent artists who dare to break the mold. So, are you ready to leave your mark?


Phase 1: Photo Submission Rules

  1. Categories:

    • You can enter as many categories as you like.

    • IMPORTANT: You can only win 1 slot out of all your submissions to move to the next round. 

  2. Before Photos:

    • A before photo is required for each entry, showing your model before any styling begins.

    • Make sure the before photo is clear and accurately shows the starting point of your work. 

  3. Photo Submission:

    • You can submit up to 4 photos of the same look in any given category. From those 4, we’ll choose the top photo for judging.

    • No watermarks on your photos.

    • Makeup: Your model’s makeup must be done. Hair design and makeup should work in harmony to elevate the overall look for that theme.

    • Description: Tell us your interpretation of the theme. Brief description of your look, where you got your inspo and anything else you would like to say about your look.

    • Posting: Post your photo entries on instragam and tag @revbeautycon #revbeautycontest. So we can repost your submissions.

  4. Editing & Photoshop Guidelines:

    • Light touch-ups are accepted, but no heavy photoshopping. We want to see the raw talent. 

    • The judges will be looking out for overly edited photos. Keep it real—show the creativity of your work.

  5. Judging Criteria for Phase 1:

    • Creativity: How innovative and unique is your interpretation of the theme?

    • Theme Alignment: Does your hair design match the theme you’ve chosen? (No exceptions—if it doesn’t match the theme, you will be disqualified.)

    • Execution: How clean, polished, and well-executed is your design?

  6. Deadline for Submission:

    • All photo submissions must be submitted through the JotForm on the website by [insert date].

    • Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

Phase 2: Live Runway Showdown Rules

  1. Final Theme:

    • If you advance to the Live Runway Showdown, you will receive one final theme to work with.

    • This will be a completely new look with the final theme—don’t reuse your Phase 1 photo submission. We want to see fresh, live creativity take shape.

  2. Model Guidelines:

    • You must provide your own model(s) for the live runway show. Models must be at least 21 years old.

    • Models should arrive color-ready the day before the show. Your finished style and makeup need to be done during the day of runway. A salon near the event space will be available for you to complete your looks. You do not need to use the salon, you can get your models ready wherever you see fit. You will be able to do wardrobe and touch up at the event space backstage. You will have [insert time limit] minutes to finalize and style your model backstage before they walk the runway.

    • Wardrobe, makeup, nails, and overall styling should convey the theme and coordinate with the hair. The total look matters. Everything must come together to create a cohesive visual presentation.

  3. Judging Criteria for Phase 2 (Live Show):

    • Creativity: How unique and daring is your interpretation of the final theme?

    • Execution: How polished is your design, from head to teo? How flawless is your model’s overall look?

    • Impact: Does your model own the runway? How does your design stand out and make a lasting impression?

  4. Blind Judging Process:

    • The runway show will be blindly judged—meaning that the judges will not know which model belongs to which stylist.

    • This ensures that the judging is based solely on the overall look (hair, makeup, wardrobe, nails) without any bias toward the artist behind the design.

    • The judges will evaluate the total package—from head to toe, hair to nails, and makeup to wardrobe.

  5. Winner Selection:

    • After the live runway presentation, the judges will select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Winners will be announced [insert time/date] at the Revolution Beauty Convention.
